THIS WEEK

ThisWeek-icon.png

We’re thinking about the question: How can we create a historical record of important events?

Your challenge this week is to create a “Timeline of Events” as a primary source to represent important events from a selected span of time.

Let's Get Started!
think5.png

You’ve already created a draft of your “Timeline of Events.” When someone looks at your work, they should see:

  • Events from a certain time period that are important to you

  • The chronological order of events

  • Symbols to represent the events

  • A title that tells what the timeline is about

Look at this student’s draft of their “Timeline of Events.” Do you see

  • Events from a certain time period that are important to them?

  • The  chronological order of events?

  • Symbols to represent the events?

  • A title that tells what the timeline is about?

Now imagine we have the chance to give this student feedback on their work to make it stronger and clearer.

Remember your challenge this week: Create a “Timeline of Events” as a primary source to represent important events from a selected span of time.

Today, you will look back at your draft and make a plan to improve your work.

1. Pencils down! This is a thinking exercise! Look at your work and ask:

  • Did I include all the important events for this span of time?

  • Are my events in the correct order?

  • Do I have symbols to represent each event?

  • Does my title tell what the timeline is about?

2. Complete one of these sentences:

  • I will add…

  • I will try…

  • I will adjust…

3. Now make the changes to your draft!

Be sure to save the draft of your "Timeline of Events." You will use it to create your final draft.

Ready for Day 4?

On day 4, you will create your final “Timeline of Events”.
